Judge’s Notebook by Eleanor Medier

Attracting the most talented virtual visual artists, the UWA 3D Art Competition also invites experts in-world and out to judge. Eleanor Medier, art critic, participated and recorded her perceptions as she rated the entries, choosing her ten votes.

Choosing ten top works out of 68 amazing entries was no easy task. Studying each, visiting several times, photographing, and getting to know ten works very well, I compare them in my article “Judge’s Journal” in the Sim Street Journal in-world edition.

Instantly, four or five works stood out to me, but choosing the next six took a lot of mental work. Seeing each individually, and in context of the theme, I also had to separate them visually. The show itself is very crowded, so differentiating is part of the challenge.

Here I share my notes when considering the ten I did choose:

1 Mistrero Hifeng, “I… io

2 Jipe Loon, “Baculum Murder

3 Pale Illusion, “The Paper Empire

4 Takni / Misio2, “Offworld

5 Dusty Canning, “Yellow House

6 Ama Avro, “Utopia

7 Sharni Azalee, “Never Say Never—Love Transcends Borders

8 Giovanna Cerise, “Saudade

9 Shenn Coleman, “Sunrise Spirit

10 KJS Yip, “Following Oscar
