Creative Collaborations

• duo internationalism   • artistic installations   • components combine

Sim Street Journal #15 contents

Collaborations are not for the timid. To stretch and be surprised are reasons to embark on the unknown, committed to a bigger goal than can be achieved alone.

Most artists do work alone. Creative ideas might come from a “brain-storm session” but have seeds in original thinking. Virtual Worlds offer new vistas in partnerships. The arts lead in potentials and push boundaries. Physical locations evaporate, as the international stage is open. Partners and audiences live anywhere.

Inspired to collaborate via like-mindedness and complimentary talents, some of the best began unintentionally. It was like fate brought them together and they bumped up against each other. They had to see what would happen if they teamed up.

Audiences rave about the results. Observing seven pairs of collaborations, their commonalities in openness are propelled by the range of possibilities. Mutual respect and focus on inspiration carry these combinations to get lost in the delivery, smooth over any communication problems, and deal with the ever-pesky time-zones of reality that bring, perhaps, the biggest limitation of reality’s influence.

Mike Carnell and Kevin Thomas are master duo-streamers and complimentary musicians. No one jams better or brings the audience into the shared experience. “The Dynamic Duoism of Mike00 Carnell and KevinMThomas Carpool

River Lemondrop and Emily Lemondrop overlap in their roles, building Lemonrock together, managing various aspects of running a fast-growing club, and letting each focus on individual interests. “River’s Recipe for Lemony Leadership” by River Lemondrop

Asmita Duranjaya and Sable (snakeappletree) maximized their use of a LEA grant to build cohesive environment to explore the meaning of cyber art. Engaging many participants, the total effect blended individual contributions. The review discusses the experience and how the parts make a greater whole.  “Cohesive Collaboration: ‘Paradise of Cyberpolis’”

Heavy Writer and Eleanor Medier continue their banter while reviewing Linden Endowment for the Arts  achievements. Captivated by Mistero Hifeng’s installation, the segments allow for many questions and insights. The Aesthete and the Amateur: “The Fragile Confrontations of Mistero Hifeng”

• Alexia Sulamericana and Eleanor Medier team up from different parts of the world on a common goal: search for the relevance in the virtual world. Alexia uses her experience, eclectic insights, and curiosity to search for talent. Eleanor pours her passion into the pages presented here. “Cyber Collaborations
