Secret Rage

Secret Rage

Conformity is a natural human reaction to living in a society, as fitting-in often meant survival in past centuries. To belong, to have an identity as part of a group, and to collaborate, are all actions that do lead to a peaceful group. However, dangerous myopic, even xenophobic, attitudes can result. In “Primarily,” Secret Rage constructs three rows of three hand-holding figures, presented in primary colors. Yet, in contrast, there is an additional front row of three that are different, with individual colors, though they act the same way. Does keeping all the poses the same imply that differences between people are really superficial? What are the consequences in this world for being an individual, even if behaving properly? Are they always arranged the same way? What is the significance of the trio patterned border? Should these patterns be broken? Does mankind become safe with a rigid balance? When a piece offers more questions than answers, there is a lack of potential. Teased by some differences in conformity, the static nature of the composition does not portray any progression or resolution, no choice to be made.
