Time Progressions: Collaborative Images

Sim Street Journal, through its devotion to reviewing virtual art in search of its relevance, has become captivated by how time is a subject in and of itself. There are many collections of art based on themes, but none on how artists depict time.

These works are not simple representative photographs of the artwork that can be seen. Anyone can push a button for a snapshot, and another button to create a photograph, if first learning how to navigate virtually (a learning curve that soon won’t inhibit the presentation of virtual achievement for real audience viewers). To show what a viewer cannot see when observing the art directly—a sense of how the work can change with time— is something original to bring into a collaborative hybrid work.

Eleanor Medier, virtual art critic and RL artist, searches for art in SL based on time. Then, she studies the various times of day and setting of the work. These ‘time slices’ give more dimension to the originals, without changing them. Rather, these presentations become works in themselves, like a creative collaborative chain. Reproduced with all credits and permissions, these works are part of a growing collection of the nonprofit in-world Gallery of Time. Please visit if in-world and watch for further presentations in Sim Street Journal.
